The Care Service for Victims of Gender-Based Violence has received nearly 90 new cases during the first six months of the year, more than 49% of the processes being treated. This is clear from the data provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Civil Service, which indicates that during the first semester of this year a total of 176 women have been treated, of which 87 are for the first time come to the service, 39 have returned and about fifty are of prevalence, that is to say, files that were opened in previous years and that continue to be processed today.

Going into the details of the data, the main entry channel to the service is the victims' own initiative, with more than 50%, followed by referral by Social Affairs (34), other channels (24), the police (21) and the hospital Nostra Senyora de Meritxell (7). Regarding the age of the women who come to the care service, most are between 28 and 39 years old (67), although there are also victims between 40 and 51 years old (48) and those between 18 and 27 (30). It should be noted that between January and June, two young women under age have been treated by the service following cases of gender violence.

In relation to the employment situation, 73% are in an active employment situation (129), while eighteen are on leave, eight are looking for work, six are not active, four are students and three are retired. It should also be taken into account that information is not known about seven women and one is not in any of the situations mentioned above.

From the Care Service for Victims of Gender Violence remember that, regardless of the specific data provided, there is no specific profile of women who may be victims of abuse by their partners, but that gender violence can give indiscriminately in any age group or employment, social and economic situation, among others. It is also worth noting the availability of the free helpline for victims, 181, which is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
